About the one they call Kaushik Gopal

Hi there, my name is Kaushik Gopal(the effort gone into plaguing this site and google, seems to have been in vain if you haven’t already noticed). Friends call me Kaush or just K. I was born in Chennai and raised in India, Muscat and Kuwait by two doting parents and the coolest brother.

After graduating from the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras(not Chennai) with a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, I was quickly bitten by the IT bug and my fascination for computers and the internet led me to don the ubiquitous robe of a Software Engineer. My B.tech still serves me well when my car breaks down or I have to impress the fairer sex with something marginally techy or academic.

I currently stay and work in Kuwait but have an Indian passport and hold it very close to the heart. That’s probably why you’ll invariably catch me scooting off to India for some inane reason. I love my land and wouldn’t want to be born anywhere else. Don’t let the occasional rambling deceive you.

On this personal blog you’Il find me ranting to my heart’s content about all things under the sun that interest me. My primary passion however lies in the art of presentation and writing. Languages fascinate me, so much so that I took up a minor elective in Linguistics during my B.tech days(the obedient yes-boy would have taken up finance or industrial engineering). Should a Y2K ever break loose again, you’ll probably find me as an editor/writer. I frequently spew out on life-hacking, music, photography, traveling, zen-efficiency, automobiles, web-design and life in general.

I also run a tech blog where you might find some really nifty snippets on all things from customizing an iPhone to bitch-slapping XP.

Some quirky traits my friends and I have noticed about yours truly:

  • I’m a complete sucker for doughnuts and cup-cakes(physical kind included).
  • I like complex-words.
  • I HATE hackneyed-wannabe-marketing words like “ostensible”, “win-win”, “impactful”,”24/7″. I consider the most serious form of torture: being seated in a chair, forced to listen to the idiot uttering such drivel, without being able to apply a choke-hold on the b******.
  • I have a fetish for making to-do lists and efficiency time-tables.
  • I’m an agoraphyllic.
  • I’ll reserve the rest for my autobiography.

I’m otherwise a jolly and helpful chap, so feel free to shoot me a mail and I promise, i’ll get back.

I’m in the process of coming up with a post titled “the 100 things i want to do this life”. Once it’s complete you’ll probably get more insight into the being called Kaushik. In the mean time you can check out my twitter, facebook, orkut, linkedIn and other profiles by clicking those tiny icons suspended on the top left of your screen.
